Distribution network for chilled food. The fundamental movement of goods runs via backbone lines operated on a daily basis among the chilled X-docks and warehouses. These lines carry goods bidirectionally – distributed goods from warehouses to X-docks, returnable packages and goods from producers (for subsequent storage, picking and distribution) in the opposite way. X-docks are chilled docks where the goods are reloaded on smaller trucks for final distribution.
Distribution network for dry goods works on the same principle, just with a minor difference in the X-docks location and in their number.
